It is beautifully shot. Also those wolves are badass.

It was ok, cliche stuff but very well done. And has Sharpe.

Though I assume its really a story about a pack of badass wolves who just happen to know a bunch of people going through political intrigue and wars in the background.

I have nothing constructive to add so I will also say that it is great.

I never realized until looking at the credits that Khal Drogo,

is played by the guy who played Ronon Dex on Stargate Atlantis,

who's also the new Conan the Barbarian.

Yeah, his familiarity was bothering me and I worked that out in the second episode. But then I kept it to myself, because I wouldn't want people to know I watched Stargate Atlantis.

Yeah aside from the lack of badass wolves, that was stellar.

Who else is watching without having read the books first? And does it look like the first season will just cover the first book?

There is no way It can cover any more than the first book, the second season will be tricky though.

I have not read the books and i'm watching. But I would probably watch anything that could be vaguely described as starring Sean Bean and he kills some dudes.

Last one was pretty good. For all the harping on from people (who have read the books) about how it gets really morally complex and deep, I was kind of thinking of the show as pretty cliche but well done nonsense. But that convo between the King and Queen near the end, when they suddenly get much more three dimensional, that gave me hope that those people are right.

Also, in a none gay way, I kind of liked they had some gay dude action. It did seem that "more adult realistic fantasy" as i've heard it described just meant they show hot chicks getting fucked a lot, which i'm fine with, but now it feels like they are actually aiming for a balance of real worldiness in the more traditional fantasy world. Which is something you dont see a lot of I guess.

That episode was pretty excellent as well. I didn't expect Viserys to die this early in the series.

Remember if you have HBO you probably have HBO Go, which means you can watch episode 7 a week early if you so wish.

Yeah, before this episode I assumed he would be a perpetual fixture, being all ridiculously evil and petulant. I was glad to see the motherfucker get crowned and am now seeing what everyone was saying about the sister becoming more of a character.
