That actually looks pretty awesome, but please stop using the Blair Witch filming method, film directors who can't read this, because the tropes of it are getting annoying.

There's nothing wrong with cinema verite to convey a sense of verisimilitude, but yeah, there's only so much you can do with the "home movie found footage" style before it gets repetitive. Instead, we should be finding innovative ways to revinvent the style, like how District 9 handled it.

For me, the main gripe with the style is that the cameraman must be a character in the story (or at least there should be a reason why a cameraman is following everyone), or else my suspension of disbelief is ruined. That and it's harder to concentrate on detail.

A person who has oranges only wants one thing... to survive. I know that a lot of you "who think you're too cool" probably won't re-post this. But a very little amount of my friends will. Put this in your signature in honor of someone who died of orange, survived or is fighting against it now. ♥

I just read about him, he's apparently the son of the director of Animal House and Blues Brothers (original and sequel).

I guess I'll see how it's rated before I watch it though, it didn't look like anything that would blow my mind (or penis, for that matter)

I hope this movie ends on a positive note, with Andrew killing everyone.

I'm actually going to a Nerf war in a park next week that Max is organizing. He's an odd fellow, but he's pretty damn fun to hang out with.

Yeah I've seen a bunch of TV spots for it recently. When one ended my cousin sat there dumbfounded for a second and then said "...oh, it's a movie? I thought that was like a Pringles commercial"

i think this movie will be bad. not like underworld bad, but bad in that it seems to be taking a pretty common movie/comic book conceit and not doing much with it. it looks good, but max is young yet, and i think his passion for writing and movies will serve him well in the future when he and his skills mature, but it's not likely that this will be a great movie. i wish him the best and will probably check this out once it's netflixable. i might even support it at a theater, but i don't get out to theaters much anyway.

edited for translation and clarification: i'm old, and this just isn't my bag anymore. but even for the target demographic this doesn't look fun. it looks overly wrought and angsty. i don't expect a dude's first film to break new ground, especially a dude like max, but i'm hopeful this will be successful enough for him to continue.

Also, if he becomes really famous, I will have some awesome anecdotes. "You know Max Landis? I knew him when he was a kid, he was SO retarded ..." etc.

His last name looks like his first name, as read by someone trying to sound it out phonetically.

maybe not but he's certainly one of the very few who deserve any kind of respect for his opinions. most movie critics are paid hacks.
