This thread is where you compete against other Dragon Mountain posters to correctly predict the results of each game of the 2010 Soccer World Cup.

Here's how it works:

Before each round, I will post the odds for the three possible results of each game - a team a win, a team b win, or a draw. You will then make your selections and PM them to my inbox. If you get a selection right, the odds attached to it are added to your score.

At the end of the round, I'll tally up everyone's scores, and post them in the thread.

At the end of the 2010 Soccer World Cup, the winner is the poster with the highest score. Hopefully the 'odds' system will make it harder for two people to have duplicate scores. I'm going to go ahead and post the odds for the first round of games.

If you're interested in playing, make a post in this thread, to let us know, and then get to making your predictions.

Good luck!

Out of curiosity, Nicol, where did you get these odds from?

My personal betting agency, centrebet.com. The odds do vary when people put bets down on them, but I'll try to get to the site as early as possible, so as to get as close to the predicted odds as possible, and before betting sway kicks in.

What's this odds-as-money thing? Back in my day we had things like 3/1, 7/2 and suchlike.

Hrm. Good point. I'll convert them to fractional odds as well, to avoid confusion.

I have thrown mine in, though I have my usual saturday accumulator problem of not being able to see draws happening. I know there must be a bunch of draws, but my football predicting mind disagrees.

I've used a website to convert the decimal odds into fractional odds, and I've put them up next to the decimal odds. But, I've never been any good at working with fractional odds, so do let me know if any of the conversions don't make any sense.
