Just got back this morning!
The haul today was:
-Pickled cherry peppers from my favorite pickle guy. The man is a genius with canning, and I buy his spicy pickle chips every other week. These cherry peppers are pickled with garlic, mustard seed, and bay leaf. He also does jams, and I'm trying to get him to make a spicy pear jam and call it Pearil Jam.
-Hot peach salsa from Rigg's Farm not a dozen miles away. The Pink Lady apples, kohlrabi, and butter lettuce also came from them.
What are kohlrabi?
They're strange little cabbages that can be eaten raw or cooked the way you would cook potatoes. I have never had one before so I'm looking for recommendations!
Also present are a kabocha and spaghetti squashes from another local farm that I picked up because squash is fucking fantastic this time of year.
The other cannister you see is filled with a savory Thai granola. I shared some with a butcher at a nearby stand and he recommended pairing it with andouille sausage, but I'm also thinking of rubbing goat cheese around a roast shank of some good meat and rolling it in the oats.
And obviously I got two baguettes just in time. They run out quick.
