Let's talk about...

Steph Curry's wife is so awesome (also I guess that the Warriors currently hold a 12 game win streak, beating their franchise record of 11 in December 1972, and Steve Kerr is awesome miscellanea):
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjU7BYcJwIw" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjU7BYcJwIw</a>

LAKERS MELANCHOLY among Lakers fans as Steve Nash being injured completely ruins their team this year, and their struggles to minimize the damage to their prestige for instance benching nonperforming Lin and Boozer. But Kobe is still amazing, even at 63! Can they make the playoffs? Can they win? Can the West All Star team this year just be the whole Lakers?
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcYsOlckMo4" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcYsOlckMo4</a>

Tyson Chandler returning to almost recreate the Mavericks' 2006 championship team and Monta Ellis putting up incredible numbers as well. Is this the Mavericks' best chance at the championship since 2006?

Durant and Westbrook returning from injury (anticlimactically) to the Thunder at the start of December after the team's awful November, and the Thunder's struggle to scrape into the playoffs. Here is Westbrook thinking a rushed almost halfcourt shot by himself is better than a head-on three by Durant:

Can they make the playoffs? Will their superstars' month off give them extra legs in the finals? This feels like a Mighty Ducks story arc.

Drake's Raptors with their young (est. 1995) franchise's best start ever, but now their superstar Demar Derozan is injured and  this could destroy everything for them.

tonight they had a few connective mishaps leading to backcourt violations and passes where somebody had been a couple seconds earlier, which is worrying but expected. friday they recorded a season high for assists tho, so they arent completely screwed up there.

As a Toronto sports fan, I'm still not used to this concept of "winning'. But somehow, the Raptors are the real deal.

... well, for the East anyway. The Atlantic Division is a complete joke. We're 6 games up on Brooklyn and we're only up to a quarter of the way through the season.

Now it's true that our early season performance to get us up to 15-5 may not be sustainable, but the fact is that we could play .500 ball for the rest of the season and not only would we make the playoffs, but we would probably have home-court advantage in the first round.

As a Hornets-into-Pelicans fan who hasn't really followed the NBA closely outside of the playoffs since we lost Chris Paul, this year I had to decide if I stick with the franchise or go back to the Charlotte Hornets. I think I made it, like, four games into the year. :(

I think I'm only really cut out to follow the NBA how I have the last half decade and change, just rooting for players more than teams, and maaaaan, does that ever make me want to see Golden State keep being dope because I love Steph Curry maybe more than I've loved watching any other player ever. He just plays straight-up NBA Jam ball, sometimes, like "I don't care that I'm a mile away and guarded, I am taking this shot, and also I am drilling it like it's nothing. And I'm doing it again next possession, too, just a heads up." I already had an affinity for him from his dope run with Davidson to the elite eight, but now it's a full blown sports crush.

Steph Curry's got the sweetest jump shot since Ray Allen and the best part is that he is so, so much better than Allen was in his prime.

But yeah you should stick with the franchise, Steelfan. You must respect the Brow. There is no other way.

He does seem pretty rad, all swatting shit all the time and whatnot. I'm a sucker for that purple and teal, though, so ultimately I looked at it as I'd imagine 95% of people who rooted for the Browns in 1990 are currently Browns fans and not Ravens fans. If I'd been following the team it would probably have been different, because he certainly seems the kind of player I'd have an affinity for had I been watching his first (first two?) year(s) and then switching back to a new team because they had an old name and look wouldn't work.

Dear lord, after AD's opening night I felt that this was going to be a breakout season for him, and it has been so far.

AD is incredible, and the best thing is that he is improving so much each year, as evident in his season averages above. If AD doesn't get injured, in the next few years, he is going to become one of the top two-way players in the league. Imagine if he could make the kick-out assist too. It's really on the Pelicans now to make sure he has a team that can take him to the finals. Right now I'm happy with Evans, Holiday, and Anderson. Asik is valuable defensively, and Gordon is out at the moment with his torn shoulder. The offensive output of the rest of the team is really dismal, and that needs to improve.

I love silly stats because they paint a picture of just how laughably bad some of the Eastern teams are:

- The Heat are 10-11 and third in a previously-laughable Southeast Division, but this is good enough for 7th in the East, and comfortably 7th too.
- Despite losing against the Cavs last night, the Raptors somehow managed to extend their lead over the Nets by half a game in the Atlantic Division
- Nevertheless the Nets are good enough to nab the last playoff spot at 8-11
- Despite playing 22 more games than the Timberwolves, Detroit and Philly combined have just one more win than the worst team in the West

Jabari Parker tore his ACL and is done for the season. Hope it doesn't set back his development too much because he has met expectations so far.

After a surprisingly fast start and what seemed to be hope glimmering on the horizon, I had almost forgotten what it feels like to be a Bucks fan.

wow two triple overtimes for the spurs in three days, impressive though they lost both. i think the memphis one was better for the closeness of it, but its understandable how they trailed off so bad tonight

hey! nba finals are coming up soon! Do you think you know your stuff? I made a website where you can make a bracket and then compete against others. You should make a bracket!

http://www.nbabracketchallenge.com

Also, if you spot any bugs or browser issues or whatever, I'd love to know.

Just 2.5 hours left until the playoffs start.

If anyone was thinking about filling out a bracket and competing in the NBA Bracket Challenge, now is the time to do it, as this is also when brackets will no longer be accepted!
