I can't believe the Mets are playing y'all on opening day. And you have fancy, salt colored jerseys to celebrate your probably deserved victories.

Jeff Sullivan is a really underrated baseball writer for fangraphs who has slowly become one of my favorite reads. He's one of those guys who can get you interested into the most boringest of topics (like baseball statistical analysis) on his writing style alone. Here he is writing about how terrible the Braves are this year.

Also go Mets and may we see many dongs.

You guys got one of my favorite Pirates because our management is completely unable to recognize quality players. Hope he has a record breaking season so I can say I told you so.

Fun Fact: Neil Walker has tied the Mets record for dingers in a month with 9.

Fact #2: We got him for the cromulent starter, Jonathan Niese.

Fact #3: Niese!!!

Fact #4: There is a player named Odubal Herrera. There is also a player named Asdrubal Cabrera. They play for the Phillies and Mets respectively.

Fact #5: Neil Walker hit a home run, which was immediately followed by an Asdrubal Cabrera home run over the head of Odubal Herrera this week.

Fact #6: This is the face Neil Walker made when it happened

Baseball is amazing.

I watched each of those dingers with the hope that our GM shall burn in the fiery pits of hell.

If it makes you feel better, by the end of the season Niese is going to make you pretty happy. You'll win more games than lose the ones he starts. In fact you guys haven't lost a Niese start yet !

It's not that Niese sucks, it's just that Walker was better than any of our other options at second, is a hometown guy, and was well liked by everyone on the team and all the fans. After watching the team hold onto Pedro Alvarez at a high price tag for years longer than his competence dictated, you'd think they could afford to keep around a fan favorite that at least hadn't led the league in errors and strikeouts for three seasons running. It's also good to see him doing well there because the Pittsburgh brass never really made a serious effort to keep him around and he's flipping the performance middle finger on his way out the door.

After losing Murphy I know how you are feeling, but for your second base woes I'd think a starter is a more pressing need. Plus walker walks after this season and we have Dilson Herrera coming down the pipes, maybe the pirates will move in if Alvarez doesn't pan out. BTW nice to see you were at the game the other night.
