The Fight of the Century was pretty boring

Your mother is so fat, she couldn't fit on a FAT32 file system. We solved the problem by upgrading to a more modern format, but sadly it's acronym does not lend itself to this joke.

I think I predicted that when I said

*quote me here THIS WILL BE A PATIENT FIGHT*

really Mayweather had the reach and just made Pac look foolish every time he lunged at Floyd. Pacman managed to land some combos every other round and he would get Mayweather against the ropes but then ease off because Mayweather was so quick to throw his guard up or duck out. Mayweather is just such a quick & smart fighter that without the speed + power Pacman had 5 or so years ago he was no match

Well that was certainly a decisive win for Floyd. He capitalized on his reach and kept Pacquiao at bay for most of the fight, and whenever Pacquiao managed to get inside and land some blows he expertly countered them.

It was a good fight though; it was how I expected two top-tier boxers in their late 30s would fight. The one judge that scored it 118-110 was dirty though, and had the fight been much closer (or more in Pacquiao's favor) the decision would have been more controversial. As it stands, I'm fine with the decision and feel that Mayweather deserved that win.

Also, I think #MayPac is professional boxing's swansong. It'll probably be at least a decade before another pair of boxers reach the same heights Pacquiao and Floyd have reached, and by that time I don't think anybody will be watching boxing anymore. The top fighting sport in 2025 will probably be some cyberpunk gladiatorial deathmatch type thing and we'll all be having sex with lifelike sex robots.
