Szzzzzzny to Juve and I hate, hate it so much. Of all the many player sales I think this one irks me the most because there is just no logic to it I can see. The fee was not some irresistible amount. The player was not demanding a move and has always made it clear he wanted to be the club's #1 for his whole career, and that even his two loans were the manager's decision. He led the league famed for defense in clean sheets and is probably already better than Cech, but at minimum is certainly more valuable given his age, thus why the team which has been to two of the last three Champions League finals wants him to replace the GOAT.

And Arsenal is all, whatevs, sell his ass. He had a smoke in the shower as a mid-twenty-something year old, he is clearly unfit to wear the shirt. Let's keep the guy who never catches anything to back up the guy who at best has a few years left in him.

This is dumb and bad.

Hey guys, sorry for no updates. This was originally a weekend I was going to see about targeting to play but I have a wake for my best friend's father, so I didn't suggest it this week. I'll try to look at my schedule to see what Sundays work in the coming weeks, and in the meantime if you guys wanna say which ones you are/aren't available we can try to find a date.

I just sent a PM out to people who confirmed they may want to contribute with a link to a folder full of nonsense for planning on the site. If anyone else is interested let me know and I'll send it your way, too.

Don't keep me waiting

PMs will be going out in a few hours with your final basic details and some prequel action to our first session.

*Seven

I need to take time hopefully this weekend to reread the GM manual, since it's been awhile, then we can see about setting up a first date to play.

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Also, a moment to reflect on the end of a legendary career. My phone is being a butt so I can't find some of the other highlights I'd love to share, and any help is appreciated, but for now one final thank you for the memories to Mr. John Terry

Round 5 of creation will be carried out following Round 6, just as logic says it should.

4. OPTIMISING

Characters normally start the game with eight Moxie points and six clones, but you

can sacrifice some of either to make your character better, or at least less bad.

Players can boost their characters’ just-created abilities in two ways:

• They can spend up to 5 Moxie points to raise their skills, at one Moxie point

per skill point.

• They can burn up to 5 clones to raise their stats, at one clone per stat point

Spending Moxie at this stage permanently reduces the character’s maximum

Moxie – we call this process ‘stiff upper liposuction’. Each Moxie point spent is

worth one skill point. You can spend Moxie to raise any skill any amount, including

negative ones, as long as you don’t spend more than 5 Moxie points in total or

raise a skill above 5. Cross out the relevant number of Moxie point boxes from the

character sheet.

Burning clones to raise stats works the same way: players can trade one or more

of their character’s unused clones for stats points, in a one-for-one exchange.

Players can’t raise a stat above 3 and they can’t burn more than five clones in

total. If they ask why they can’t burn six clones before the game starts then they

may be too stupid to play this game.

19

When a player burns a clone, they have to make a note on their character sheet how

each clone met their demise. Make something up. Give the character a bit of history.

You should also do this if you have any clones die during the course of the game.

You can’t raise an attribute to higher than 3 using clone-derived points. It is

theoretically possible to have an attribute of 4 but you have to do a lot of groundwork

during the Skills phase, because you have to choose four skills in the same attribute-
group without the jerk on your right hitting you with a negative for one of them.

There’s more about Moxie and why spending points now may be a bad idea on

page XX.

BSam's first four clones have been fired into the sun for insolence

Security clearance was a mistake. You were first in so I probably accidentally put it in before realizing that comes later in the process.

the stats so far

Jerbwyn
+1 Bluff
-1 Athletics
+2 Charm
-2 Program
+3 Bureaucracy
-3 Engineer

BSam
+1 Alpha Complex
-1 Bluff
+2 Intimidate
-2 Charm
+3 Operate
-3 Bureaucracy

mgoat
+1 Guns
-1 Alpha Complex
+2 Melee
-2 Intimidate
+3 Other Weapons
-3 Operate

Skel
+1 Athletics
-1 Guns
+2 Program
-2 Melee
+3 Engineer
-3 Other Weapons

I had it in my head I do the final attribute reversal and was already seeing some flips that would be really fun, only to realize that is for the solo creation and that you jerks get to do it. Suffice it to say if you choose to flip the wrong skills the computer will be noting it.

That is definitely a perspective to have, as well. One night my girlfriend got real drunk and started ranting about a game we had played months prior and we laughed our asses off so much that we were already considering her having video contributions of the inebriatedly-unfiltered opinions of the casual player on the games the gamer dork has forced on them.

The goal is to be a resource for people looking to get their friends playing, and the opinion of someone in the "I'm the person this wacky-ass game was introduced to as totally easy to get" and whether or not you actually felt that was the case or not is great to have.

So mgoat starts the +3 round

Reminder you can pick anything as long as it hasn't been chosen that round and as long as you don't have a + or - score to it already

I haven't had the chance to fully re-read the rules since I first posted, but also I would presume you can't pick something that the player after you already has chosen as a positive score, since then they couldn't get the negative penalty?

BSam gets to start off the +/- 2 round

So I recently posted on Facebook about a boardgame site I'm looking to launch this summer, and while I'd never considered asking anyone else to write/do Let's Play videos for it, goat reached out and said he'd be interested and I love the idea of multiple voices on it. So, would anyone else here be interested? The site is aimed at being  for gamers trying  to spread  the hobby, and I know we have  a lot of those here so extra voices just raises the range of games available for  us to cover, since I don't  always get to play something new every month,  let alone week.

It comes with the same caveat I had to give him, that this is definitely going to be just a passion project in the beginning so no sweat to anyone who wants to take a pass. While getting it big enough to start earning money on ads or a patreon would be a goal, that would all be down the line if it succeeds.

If you're interested here was the quick outline I sent him of what I had in mind:

Awesome. While we wait for Goat's basics we can actually get started on the Skill selection.

Quote from: Refresher on Skill Selection
2. SKILLS
Every Paranoia player-character begins the game with five different skills, rated from 1 to 5, to indicate things they’re good at doing. They also get five anti-skills rated -1 to -5 for things they’re really bad at. But it’s not as simple as just putting numbers by things. Here’s how you decide what your skills are, and also what the other player-characters’ skills are.
1. The player to the left of the GM – call them Ingrid – begins by choosing one of the skills listed on their character sheet to take at level 1. Write a ‘1’ by it. The player on their left – John – automatically gets the same skill, but at -1.
2. John chooses a different skill to take at +1, and the next player – Kat – gets it at -1. Kat turns to Leigh, and the process continues.
3. Keep going round the group, slowly building the simmering resentments – ‘What do you mean, I’ve got a negative guns skill?’ until everyone has one +1 and one -1 skill. Don’t worry, simmering resentments are good! Interesting stories arise from conflict, so anything that is going to provoke conflict is good.
4. John starts the next round, taking a different skill at +2 and passing a -2 to Kat; Kat takes a +2 and passes a -2 to Leigh, and so on until everyone has skills at that level. Kat starts the next round, taking a +3 and passing on a -3 to Leigh, and so on.
6. Keep going until everyone has five positive skills and five negative skills, and is drawing little skulls, lightning bolts and decapitated heads in the margins of their sheet.

The "table" seating is: Jerbwyn --> BSam --> goat --> Skel

So we start with Jerbwyn choosing a skill for +1 (and -1 for BSam) then Sam, etc.

Reminder to anyone else reading if Saturdays work for you and want to join you can. You'll be put into a random seat at the table, and everyone else can decide on your +/- up to the round we are at, but you can join.
19  Forum / Games and Stuff With Wires / Re: Anybody up for some Paranoia? on: May 04, 2017, 04:02 pm
That's fine, I'm not looking to do every week levels of consistency, since with my job I only get Saturday evening/nights and Sundays off and I am looking to not have my girlfriend leave me for never spending time with her, so if there's a Saturday that doesn't work we can just pick a different one.

So, if you give us your basic details, I can randomize your "seats" and we can start the character creation. I am going to be gone for a week from the 13-20, so hopefully doing the creation here means at the end of that we would be good to try to find a Saturday that worked to start playing.
20  Forum / Games and Stuff With Wires / Re: Anybody up for some Paranoia? on: May 03, 2017, 11:28 am
How are Saturdays for you, goat? The way I'm looking at these times it seems like our best windows are either:

Very early Sunday US/early afternoon Sunday UK/Sunday night Australia: If all the US players don't mind getting up early and Sam can do late, we could probably do 2-3 hour sessions on Sundays.

Saturday Afternoon US/Saturday evening UK/Sunday Morning Australia: This could probably be lined up for longer play windows if we want them, since it allows for larger blocks where nobody is in a particularly outrageous time window.

Also, same questions to dust, and for either of you I'll need the basic character info from earlier in the thread if the times work and then we can start character building.
